The Follow Layering System.
What is it & what’s it for?

Below: Josh Twelker pondering the benefits or his Layering Gear.

WE NEED LAYERING BECAUSE WAKEBOARDING IS HEAVILY IMPACTED BY THE WEATHER AROUND US"

From the temperature and wind to the extended periods of time spent wet above the water, wakeboarding is heavily impacted by the weather around us. We all have the basic understanding of layering for the snow, so why are we treating the water any different? We need to layer correctly to keep warm. for the last three years, we have been secretly developing products designed for our sport to extend our riding time, while making the colder months more enjoyable to ride in.

Spray Jackets maintain a light feel while riding and can be worn as the conditions change.

Spray Outer Jackets —

FOR Wind and water protection.

The outer spray jacket’s function is to provide wind and water-repellent protection. This lightweight outer shell minimises the wind chill factor while also minimising water absorption. It maintains a light feel while riding and can be worn as the conditions change. New additions this year with 10/10 waterproofing and breathability will increase the use of this jacket as it’s rated for snow use.

Perfect for that afternoon session on the boat like Josh Twelker or that cold wind blowing at the cable park like Alex Aulbach. Its that perfect middle ground of weight and performance to extend your riding time. Not only that it’s a epic travel piece. For wet weather, snowboarding or just those cold winter days. A perfect product that helps with the wind chill and provides water protection. This is even been used by some of the follow team on the snow.

Neoprene Outer Jackets —

Wind protection with added warmth.

These 2mm outer jackets are made using our super stretch neoprene. Neoprene stops the wind completely and will also help maintain body temperature.

Great outer piece for the winter months. All the advantages of the spray but 100% dedicated to water use. This stops the windchill and adds a further layer of warmth with the 2mm neoprene. The perfect jacket for the cable park in winter or even foiling. One of the favourite pieces of the range for Pedro Caldas and the Stuckey brothers Trent and Gavin.

Wakeboard Vests –

Impact vests & life jackets.

This layer will also add warmth, but primarily it’s for safety of the user. We refer to this layer as a vest. Its primary role is to minimise impacts during hard hits and providing the rider with added buoyancy while in the water. Different locations across the world have different requirements.

Don’t worry, follow has a option for whatever your location in the world . From our approved vest CGA, ISO or AUSL50 or Impact CE approved. We have models available to suit your location. Please refer to your local pro shop or local laws for your personal requirements.

Wetsuits for Wakeboarding —

Neoprene Base Layer.

We have worked closely with the world’s leading manufacturers to create a small essential line of wetsuits that meet the same standards we demand for all Follow products. From raw material selection, right up to fit and function, we take no shortcuts. We believe it’s the little things that make a world of difference to a performance wetsuit.  How does a wetsuit work?

To put it simply, wetsuits work by trapping a small amount of water between the wetsuit and your skin. The trapped water is rapidly warmed up by your body heat, and becomes an insulating layer. This is the most important layer for warmth. All other layers are working as assets to the base layer.
