Joey Battleday & the Peacock Brothers at 313

It’s rare that someone puts as much effort into a consolidated video launch as Joey Battleday and Ryan Peacock (Filmer) have for this Video Edit.

...If your riding was this good, I’d say you might too. As our team rider, we got inside Joey's head to see how this was coming together and how he felt about it. Watch the edit below...

How’d this come about?

After a busy summer of competing, I found myself with a free week and the opportunity to go and shoot at 313 Cable Park before I head back to Australia to escape the European winter. As you can imagine I jumped at the opportunity. 313 has really made some noise in the wakeboard industry over the last few years, with 3 cables full of obstacles, on site accommodation, great food, best vibes, filmers and photographers at your disposal, they are leading the charge of the growing wake scene in Europe. It’s insane to watch this place grow, each time I visit there’s something new and sure enough there’s new Lithuanian and Eastern European riders coming out of every corner.

It takes more than a rider to put something like this together, who was involved?

I was fortunate enough to have one of my longtime friends Ryan Peacock filming and editing the video, along with Domliek on the drone and Vadim behind the lens snapping some rad photos. Also, my good friend and rising star Rudy Talboys joined us for a week to hang and stack some clips of his own.

"The first few days we’re a write off, one of the locals said “This is the closest thing we get to a hurricane in Lithuania."

Joey Battleday right out on the edge. Grabbing on rails, does anyone ever talk about that anymore?
Remember when grabbing on rails was a thing that people talked about? Joey, grabbing on rails.

Tell us about how the week went?

I arrived on the Monday after competing at the Embily open in Italy over the weekend so admittedly was a little bit dusty upon arrival. So, we planned to start shooting on Tuesday giving us 8 days to shoot.
From looking at the forecast the first few days were looking shocking and then a local said to us, “This is the closest thing we get to a hurricane in Lithuania.” So, as you can imagine the first few days were a write off. Still with plenty of time we cracked into it and started chipping away. The first few riding days were slow, figuring out the lines and trying to get some tricks near perfect, but day by day, crossing tricks off the list we started to make some good progress. Coming in to the last days the weather was turning on for us, morning and evening sessions went by and we started to have an edit coming together, by the last day we had managed to wrap it up and had earned ourselves a few coldies, which was good timing as Jonas and the board sports crew arrived so was awesome to kick it with them.

"I took an outrageous amount of time to get each clip haha, sometimes I should probably learn when enough is enough… I guess that’s me being a bit of a perfectionist, but also sometimes I do wish there was more emphasis on that in the sport"

You’re happy with what you guys came up with obviously?

Filming (and riding in general) is always a funny one for me, like you can do something and be fucking stoked on it, but realistically if you went and tried it for another 3 hours, you’re probably going to be able to do it better. So that makes it hard for me to be satisfied from clips and part of the reason it can take an outrageous amount of time to get 1 clip haha, sometimes I should probably learn when enough is enough… I guess that’s me being a bit of a perfectionist, but also sometimes I do wish there was more emphasis on that in the sport…

Thanks?

Got to say a huge thanks to 313 for making this happen, along with the cable staff on the early mornings and of course Ryan, Dom and Vadim (@scowl_broccoli) for shooting all week. Always a pleasure to be back here and can’t wait for the next one!
